  • School evaluations are conducted to determine educational eligibility for special education services and focus on how a student’s learning impacts their access to the curriculum. 

    Private evaluations are not tied to educational eligibility and may use clinical frameworks, such as the Diagnostic Service Manual (DSM), to provide diagnostic clarification and recommendations that extend beyond the school setting. 

    Both types of evaluations provide valuable information and can be complementary.

  • Nope! The terms are often used interchangeably.

  • The process typically includes an initial consultation, background information gathering, testing sessions, scoring and interpretation, a written report, and a feedback meeting to review results and recommendations.

  • From the initial appointment to the feedback session, the process typically takes several weeks to months. The exact timeline may vary depending on scheduling, the scope of the evaluation, and the complexity of the referral questions. Typically evaluations will be completed in 2-4 weeks following the final testing session.

  • Services are provided on a private-pay basis. Upon request, documentation may be provided for possible out-of-network reimbursement through your insurance provider.

  • Evaluations include a thorough review of background information, standardized testing, scoring and interpretation, a comprehensive written report, and a feedback meeting to discuss results and recommendations.

  • Evaluations can provide documentation and recommendations that may support requests for accommodations in school or college settings. Final decisions regarding eligibility and accommodations are determined by the school or institution.
